I heard the Hull ferry to Boston proper is a nice trip. My hubby and I are big into hockey and our kids do figure skating and ice hockey here in Austin. We don't own guns but know plenty of people who do and after deer rut, we eat venison with them. I know the NE is big into outdoor activities. Our family lives in Norwell and when we were there for Thanksgiving we passed so many towns on the way I would point out all the homes and even say "Look kids were in historic Cohasset" My hubby would say, "Everything here is historic district" lol. The no income tax is great but you get railroaded by property taxes here and the Sales tax is 8.25. It all evens out in the end IMO. I’m not wanting to be in the boonies but really good schools with good teachers are of the utmost importance. The Southern culture is big into Football. Football,God, and Family is the order people here joke about but it’s quite true. We are not part of that and it does hurt the social circle a bit. Academics are meh but millions in funding will go to athletic facilities yet teachers have to beg for Chromebooks and get paid under $50K with no job protection and horrible benefits that most will forgo to save money. They cancel school on a whim if the football team makes it to a big game because they need the busses to transport the players, cheer team, dance team, and band. Also, it would be nice to be around people who are more open-minded and family-focused, if that makes sense.
