Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

Unto Us A Child Is Born

Isaiah 9:7 - "Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his Kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this."

Jesus is the most precious gift that God has given us. He is the most beautifully packaged gift, so complete and so necessary for our lives. God gave us this gift so that we would have everything we'd ever need and overflow above and beyond without measure. The gift of Jesus is the ultimate gift, so under-girded with love and unmatched thoughtfulness by our Father.

What is the gift of Jesus? He is our EVERYTHING. He is the perfect Son of God, who was fully God and fully man. He left the comforts of Heaven to live and breathe and ultimately die for US – you and me. What we could never pay for, not even come close to paying for, Jesus overpaid for us with His perfect sacrifice. His eternal self-sacrifice is our example that we should be willing to die to ourselves (Galatians 2:20) for the spiritual benefit of others.

We all deserve Hell's eternity for our sins, but by God's grace, through this almost unfathomable gift of Jesus, we instead get to have life and have it more abundantly. We get to have an intimate relationship with the "One whom my soul loves," as is so beautifully described in Song of Songs 3:1. We get life in exchange for death, eternity with the Lord in exchange for eternity in Hell, grace in exchange for punishment, and love in exchange for fear.

A GIFT THAT MEANS MUCH MORE

The greatest gift ever given was Jesus. When you open this gift that is just for you (and me), you will find everlasting life with the Father, healing and wholeness, peace and love. Jesus died so you could be not only healed but whole in EVERY way – since He has forgiven all your sins you are always free from condemnation (Romans 8:1,2) and are always in right standing with God -- bearing fruit that remains (John 15:16) for His Kingdom (Isaiah 9:6) on a continual uninterrupted basis through your Christ calling. He died and already suffered your griefs (Isaiah 53:4) so you don't have to. He already provided for your every need. And as you delight ourselves in Him, He will give you the desires of your heart (John 15:16)).

JESUS IS OUR EVERYTHING

Sounds amazing, right? Get filled with anticipation. Rush over! You don't even have to wait. It's already there waiting with your name on it... He is waiting for you to understand your Christ identity so you can embrace your oneness with Him. Jesus! Only Jesus! He really is the reason for the season.
