Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

The Candy Machine Caper At Work
Posted 10-20-2023 at 05:32 PM by case44
A day at work sometimes calls for a little something to nibble on after lunch. So, it came time for your writer to head over into the break room and grab something out of the vending machine.
I tapped my debit card on the sensor and typed in the number of the selection I was going to make. It had been a while since I had me a Kit-Kat chocolate/wafer bar, so why not? Yeah, that's the ticket. Time to break me off a piece of that Kit-Kat bar. The number of the selection had been typed in....
....and then, I got a message electronically that said INVALID NUMBER.
You've got to be kidding. An invalid number? On a selection that is visible with the very number that I typed in? It said 145, and I typed 1 4 5. So, I went through the process again.
INVALID NUMBER.
How about we hum a few bars of that old commercial they used to have on TV? You remember it. Goes like this....
Gimme a break
Gimme a break
Break me off a piece of that Kit....
Wait a minute.
The machine isn't responding well here. There's a number on that panel that likely has no business being there. Either that, or the machine itself is just glitching. I kept getting the same message for an invalid number on one which is perfectly visible. ![EEK!](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)
So, then, your writer decided to retreat and select something else with no problem. No Kit-Kat this time around. Our vendor provider will just have to go in and try to fix the problem; that is, if I can get notice to him by the time he makes his next round.
Case walked back to his desk with some plain M&Ms, but that's life for you.

It’s almost shocking when those things work the way you want them to, or at all. That could be one of the reasons you rarely see those in hotels anymore.

Case,
I had no idea the candy machine takes debit cards! Fun blog post. Happy Autumn!Posted 11-02-2023 at 02:29 PM by 2goldens -
Oh, yeah, 2Gs. That one does. You can use debit or credit.............or you can still use cash if you have it. If only the vendor guy would rectify his slot numbers now....
