Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

Stepping Into Our Destiny

Posted 08-11-2023 at 09:54 PM by Albert Finch

No one wants to make another trip through the wilderness. This is not a time to walk in circles. We are to walk with a true goal, aim, and purpose, making the most of each occasion, because we know the time is short (see Ephesians 5:14-17). Paul, the apostle, instructs us to walk purposefully toward one true goal -- God's PURPOSE for our life (see Philippians 3:12-16).

No one has time to wander around the mountain of defeat and unbelief; we are to ask, seek, and knock (Matthew 7:7) until we come to understand God’s purpose for our life so we will be able to bear fruit for God’s Kingdom in the earth. We lay hold of our Christ identity as we get ready for God to move us out of the confines and limitations of what we have experienced in the past.

We seek wisdom and revelation from the Holy Spirit to carry out our calling to advance the Great Commission. We see God join together both favor and faith, releasing us into a faith that believes God to the point of action. (see Hebrews 11:1-6)

No matter how confused and confounded we have been in the past, this is the day we can clearly find the exit sign and end the wilderness wanderings (see Psalm 119:105 and Psalm 119:130). We can begin to walk in our PURPOSE as we seek first the Kingdom of God. As we rise up and take our promised land, we will quickly discover that His promises are: Yes, Yes!

We must desire to fully finish the course--in such a manner as to hear the Lord say, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

OUR HIGHEST GOAL: TO ADVANCE THE KING IN HIS KINGDOM

Notice how Paul prayed that we would walk worthily in Colossians 1:9-11,

"For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make (special) request for you, (asking) that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom (in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God) and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things, that you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the Knowledge of God (with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition).

(We pray) that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His Glory, (to exercise) every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy."

Our highest purpose must be to advance the KING in His Kingdom. Our prayer each day must be, "On earth as it is in Heaven" (see Luke 11:2). Just as Christ could say, "I only do that which I see My Father doing," we must have clear focus too.

It is imperative that we maintain a deep walk in the Word of God -- by affirming and meditating on the scriptures in Paul’s epistles that help us understand our Christ identity -- this will bring about the freedom we need to draw near to the Lord. Each day we must seek to draw ever nearer to Christ, seeking to yield, ever deeper, our will to His will so we will be effective in bearing fruit that remains for His Kingdom through our Christ calling. It is as we enter and experience and spend time in His presence -- that we are changed into His likeness (see 2 Corinthians 3:18).

THE VOICE OF GOD

The Holy Spirit is opening the ears of believers to hear more clearly the Voice of God. All who are seeking to hear will hear the Lord's voice clearly. "Be still and know that He is God" (see Psalm 46:10-11). Behold the Heavens--they will clearly speak the Lord's message. The release of revelation of God’s purpose for your life will increase, therefore, ask for your spiritual ears and eyes to be opened (see Ephesians 1:17-18).
