Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Morning Coffee Waker-Upper Plans Are A-Changing Rapidly

Posted 05-13-2023 at 06:40 PM by case44

Now and then, I can make coffee at my own abode, but I've been a bit addicted lately to Starbucks' lattes and caramel macchiatos. They make my mornings.

So, what does Starbucks do now? Apparently, they have decided to cut back hours for pre-dawn serving. In the past, there's been autonomy in how different Starbucks locations could have their own hours, and many would be open at 5 a.m., especially if one was located near a major freeway. Well, things have changed where Starbucks is concerned. For whatever reason, they're enforcing at 6 a.m. open time for most days of the week at every location.

Why?

What's the point in that? People go to work early each day. Many of those same people desire to have a cup of coffee or some variation of it when they go. Why take away a very important customer base? If these folks are not careful, then they are going to lose a good number of their clientele, and other competing coffee places aren't even open at 6 a.m. I go to work at 6 most days, so now, this arrangement forces me into a different plan. Some of the greatest people I know are at the Starbucks I go to near my abode in Texas, and they're some of the friendliest you'll ever come across. Business decisions are one thing, but do they need to come at the expense of customers?

Something to think about.

Great news! My favorite Starbucks is back open after their renovations, and everything inside looks great! Best of all, their hours will not change from what they had before, meaning I can go in before my work day begins and get my macchiato or latte.

Some people just have all the luck.
