I've simply never lived anywhere where nose-out parking was... so prevalent.

My neighbors across the street will carefully back in five or six times a day as they come and go. They will not infrequently come out at the end of the day and reverse a nose-in parking job (without going anywhere or having any evident reason to do so). I have seen them open the garage, reverse the car to nose-out position, and close the garage door for the night. (Small cars, big garage and driveway mostly flat.)

I watch people back-and-fill two or three times to squeeze their tailgate into a tight slot that would present no problem for either pull-in or back-out.

This week, I watched an F-250 spend a considerable amount of time trying to back in, then 'circling the block' to be able to come at the slot from a better angle.

The day after that, I pulled out of a slot only to have another pickup that had just parked nose-in back straight across the aisle into my vacated slot.

Conceding that there may be the occasional good reason to back into a parking slot, and that doing the "pull through" of a double slot so you can pull out forward when you leave is a reasonable practice... please explain in calm, simple words why you spend a great deal of extra time and effort backing into parking slots. When... folks elsewhere hardly ever do.

Even now despite being fairly early in the current generation of electric vehicles, the US has the Chevy Bolt which starts towards the lower end of the US market segment. Globally, there are far cheaper, highway capable and relatively safe vehicles in the subcompact and compact category that compete well with their ICE counterparts. These cheaper, smaller vehicles though generally do not see the light of day in the US as automakers have pruned them from their lineups due to low sales of already low margin vehicles. The electric grid has been gone over many, many times on this forum. You lack the ability to retain that knowledge for whatever reason. In case anyone is reading this who actually has a working memory, the average age of the US fleet is about 12 years old and last year's plugin share of new vehicles was something like 6% or so. Even if my prediction of plugins reaching half of new vehicle market share in the US by 2028 comes true, that's a very gradual total fleet transition so it's a very slow uptick.

Not only that, but as has been mentioned a ridiculous number of times on this forum, the way charging works for the many of you who have no experience and little knowledge of the matter, is that most charging for most people occur overnight when general electricity demand is far lower than what are almost universally mid-day to afternoon electricity consumption highs. As the grid is generally built for highs, the actual generation and transmission capacity we have *now* can already accommodate the bulk of charging since EV powertrains are quite efficient, and again, most charging is done at home overnight when overall demand is well below transmission and generating capacity.

What's more, the same basic technologies driving EVs which are massive advancements in battery technologies is also doing a huge part in making the grid more stable and doing it in a way that's making it less costly to do so as economies of scale and production learnings from increasing battery production has made stationary storage and local storage (including local storage at charging stations!) much, much cheaper. The massive drop in price of batteries making them suitable for stationary storage in recent years has actually been credited as a large part of why California last year despite record high temperatures and peak electricity consumption was able to *not* have rolling blackouts despite having them in years past when electricity consumption was *lower*.

It's one thing for this phinneas person to pop in on this conversation as he probably doesn't know any better, but it's another thing for you to keep going on with the same pointless arguments that are completely misinformed despite having been on these boards and weighing in on these threads over and over again. There's something wrong here with your inability to retain any of this information.
