A few months ago, my sister Donna was forced to give up her job as General Mgr of a restaurant in northern FL because of health concerns. She is a single woman without means other than her work. It's just her and her corgi, Molly.
She went on part-time, but lost her health insurance benefits. The medical bills quickly consumed her reserves. I know, it's a common story. Though I didn't know it, she was also having problems with her thinking, losing gaps of time. I learned this recently from her boss.
Long story short: On Jan 14th she drove herself to a nearby ER but was incoherent when she arrived. After assessing her, they immediately put her into ICU. Eight days later, they moved her to another hospital, after discovering a large mass in her brain. It took another week to determine it was GBD (glioblastoma). This is an extremely aggressive cancer of the brain.
Her doctors have told her that she has less than a year, with chemotherapy. Her daughter (living in MI) is with her now, trying to get her as much help as she can. She's put together this GOFUNDME site, in hopes that it may reach someone that has means to assist in helping keep her living expenses paid, her medical bills, and in home health care. We are not financially able to cover these costs on our own, and don't want her to live her last days in an isolated facility away from her family and her dog.
