Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Relax, McRib Fans --- It's Not Really Farewell

Posted 11-18-2022 at 05:31 PM by case44

I knew it.

It's not really what many have been led to believe despite the hype suggesting that it may well be.

Said hype is referring to McDonald's with their McRib ad campaign. They call it the McRib Farewell Tour. And, yes, I was at Mickey D's earlier this evening to get an order to go. Two McRibs (Hey, I was hungry, y'all) sided with a large French fries as only the Golden Arches can. We're being led to believe that this is it, this is the very last time McRib will be sold at McDonald's in the history of ever.

Don't believe one word of it.

They've baked this cake before, sports fans. Several times. We've seen the same hype every time the McRib would be sold on a limited-time basis, usually around holiday time instead of, say, the summer time when it might be a better time. If McDonald's is trying to sound like a failed politician trying to make a promise to the constituents he's really ignoring, then it's, well, it's just not working. But I digress. I got two McRibs to bring home and enjoy at my dinner table. Moments after I finish writing this computer chickenscratch, I'll be running an errand, but there will be a temptation.

Farewell Tour, huh? Not for Case. He's thinking about trudging back to another McDonald's location and get him a third one. Fast fooders just aren't proficient at farewell tours.

    The McRib will be back.

    Beto probably will, too.

^^^ But Beto wouldn't taste near as good with fries....

Oh, and I did run two more errands this particular evening and did stop and get that third McRib and bring it back to the abode.

    I just couldn't help it.

Oh, for sure, Mo. Next year at this time, I predict. Might cost a dollar or two more, but I expect it to be around again.

I remember when McRib first came out when I was a kid and the "No Bones" commercials. What I don't remember is if it was an on/off menu item back then.
