Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

The Doctor Today Keeps The Apple Away
Posted 09-19-2022 at 06:32 PM by case44
Your writer had to briefly pause from his life to make a routine visit to his personal physician. It's just routine, y'all. I'm fine. ![Smile](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
What I glean from those visits is the hilarity of the doctor when he tells me certain things. And, of course, to his credit, he's a smart man and he has a keen sense of humor. The issue is my diet. He's trying to get me to downplay the nutritional importance of fruit. Why? Because he calls fruit a dessert. No joke. When he's lecturing me on fruit, he sez that fruits contain sugar. And sugar is what the good doctor wants me to stay away from. With as much as what many experts in magazines or online sites will tell you, my doctor has the gall to say, "Fruit is a dessert."
Nothing against vegetables, mind you. And you know that Ol' Case just looooooooves meat.
But sooner or later, I've got to have an apple. Sooner or later, I've got to reach for an orange, or some grapes, or a banana, or some strawberries. After all, they come out of the ground, and should that be good for us?
On my next appointment in several months, perhaps I need to ask the good doctor what's on his diet....

Fruit is a dessert? Yes, but it's a dessert that I'd think would be good for us....
