Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Nothing Like A Good Interstate Highway Corridor To Bring People Together

If you had to go back and try to recall anything that Congress and the Senate had done together that was actually good in the last two years since the presidency was stolen, then you'd be hard-pressed to come up with anything. Am I right?

Well, believe it or not, bipartisanship, which usually doesn't really exist in most Capitol Hill decisions, actually came through with this doing. And it's actually happened twice, but it's the same idea and function. Happened last winter, in fact.

I'm talking about two interstate corridors, one labeled Ports-To-Plains (Interstate 27) and Ports-To-Forts (Interstate 14). You didn't think Congress or the Senate could agree on anything now, did you? Well, in those two cases, they actually did. Even though your writer had already discussed the two corridors previously on Case's Column, it's the how that hasn't been examined. There actually doesn't have to be that much to examine in this space save this: Both sides of Congress (Yes, the Democrats, the Republicans, and anyone else in between) agreed on something, despite the vile evil that permeates today's White House. Leave it to an interstate highway in bringing out the best in all kinds of people. It's happened before. It's happened again. Heck, even bumbling Joe Biden* actually got his pen and signed both bills into law. My goodness, even a church picnic previously couldn't bring both sides together, but even more incredible than that, from what I've read, people on both sides actually had the conviction that a corridor was needed in their areas, and they acknowledged that! Imagine Ted Cruz and Raphael Warnock, two Senators who couldn't have less in common, agreeing on the need for Interstate 14. They have. How refreshing.

Now, if only we could somehow convince everyone on both sides on the idea of making America great once again....

Yeah, I know, folks. We'll sort all the other things out later on. In the meantime, I've got a forthcoming post talking about those two corridors and how they plan to come together in a certain Texas city. Stay tuned for that.

You're right, Case. That's about all they've got to show for themselves.
