Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Can You Believe That College Football Is Right Around The Corner?
We were just getting into summer. Now, school is already starting for the kiddos out there where you are, and even where you aren't. ![Big Grin](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Labor Day is fast approaching, and with that comes the start of yet another college football season. I'll be cheering on my Texas Longhorns, who have got to recover from an embarrassing 5-7 campaign last year with then-first-year head coach Steve Sarkisian. The Longhorn faithful are not a patient bunch, and I just know that, at the first sign of trouble, the Board of Regents might have to get that quick hook out for Coach Sark. Some are thinking that might happen.
Now, if it does, then what? Well, former TCU coach Gary Patterson had actually come in to the Forty Acres, in, strangely enough, an off-field capacity.
Here's what your writer thinks: Patterson will be the next head coach of the Longhorns. As much as I like Sark, his coaching style is already suspect, and although coaching changes do provide headaches, at least, the Horns have insurance from within. Coach in waiting?? Where Patterson is concerned, some feel he might turn out to be a better head coach than Sark has proven to be. If his track record at TCU is any indication, then Patterson could be the better guy if he actually gets it.
Nevertheless, here come three more years of Texas and the Oklahoma Sooners in the Big 12 Conference before departing for the Southeastern Conference. College football as a whole will be great to have back.
