hunterseat df: Hunter Seat Equitation is a division that is judged on the ability and the style of the rider. The riders can be judged both over fences and on the flat.

Although true, hunters DO eat, at least the skilled ones do, my name derives from the world of horses.

And because the word hunter is in my name, people automatically think I'm a guy. Not even close.

Whenever I meet someone named Hunter I have to bite my tongue to keep from saying "That's my name, too!"

The trip here was thankfully uneventful. We had a couple of thunderstorms which drove us into hotel rooms rather than weathering the storm in the teardrop camper. One dog is terrified of thunder (fireworks and gunshot, too).

I've been here 3 weeks. It was sight unseen but I absolutely love the property. 66 acres of mostly forest with about 6 acres of pasture that needs brush-hogging. Long neglected due to the passing of previous owners. HOWEVER a guardian angel has been keeping the yard cut and weed eaten. What a blessing!! His family members are all around this area and are pretty awesome.

My second weekend here I attended a Farm The Forest seminar which was very informative and all-in-all pretty awesome. I've applied for a grant that will provide guidance on site prep and best planting areas for native medicinal plants, etc. Hoping to get the property set up for future success, even if I'm too old to really reap the benefits. I'm having a blast being a steward of this great property.

The pets are in awe of all the grass and water features. Ticks - not so much. I've subscribed to First Saturday Lime and also have some Wondercide on the way. Once I get a little ammo against those parasites, I hope to do more clearing.

There's a trailer here that isn't worth putting money into. But it has water hooked up (finally turned on TODAY!). The house needs gutting, doesn't have water or a legit septic system so I've got to figure all that out.

At the moment I'm living in my teardrop still. Decisions have to be made before the seasons turn.

Anyway, there's a bit of an update after long neglecting the blog. Cheers.
