Where to Find Pet Friendly Apartments in Boston

If you and Fido are looking for an apartment lease in the Boston area, you may be unsure where to look. This time of year can be notoriously stingy in terms of apartment availability, and many landlords have a no pet policy in their units. In fact, at the time of posting, there are 15 neighborhoods in the city of Boston with under 5 pet friendly apartments available for rent, and 5 of those have 0 available.

So where do you go to look for pet friendly apartments in Boston? Some neighborhoods are easier than others in general. In this article, we’ll look at the 5 neighborhoods that have a decent of inventory of pet friendly apartment options, and we’ll break down the number that are available right now.

1. Mission Hill

Mission Hill is a small neighborhood in central Boston with a big apartment inventory. Located just South of Longwood Medical and east of Allston, it’s a perfect location for both students and young professionals that study and work in Boston. As of now, there are 22 pet friendly apartments available for rent in Mission Hill, and that number generally stays high throughout the year.

2. East Boston

East Boston is an up-and-coming neighborhood in Boston, and rent prices are relatively low compared to other areas. It’s a short 10 minute drive to downtown Boston, and residents can conveniently catch a ferry ride to the North End. It’s also right next to the airport. Currently there are 20 pet friendly apartments available for rent in East Boston.

3. Brighton

Brighton is located slightly north and west of Brookline and borders Allston. It’s a favorite spot for off campus housing in Boston given its location relative to local Universities and its affordable rent prices. At the time of posting, there are 20 available pet friendly apartments in Brighton.

4. Dorchester

Dorchester is located South of South Boston, and is known to be one of the more affordable places to live in Beantown. It boasts a large inventory of apartments year round, and even now during the leasing season’s quietest month, there are 19 pet friendly apartment options in Dorchester to pick from.

    Last year, I traveled to Boston and found several pet-friendly apartments in neighborhoods like Back Bay and South End. I used Patriotslimousine.com for car service, which was very impressive. Websites like Zillow and Apartments.com are great resources for finding these pet-friendly options.
