Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

A Welcome, New Sight Awaits Tulsa Travelers

Posted 12-07-2021 at 08:30 PM by case44

Renovations are going on at a number of our nation's airports. Both major airports in Oklahoma have undergone changes in recent years. Tulsa International Airport has seen some improvements in their main terminal with all the completions builders have made. Now, they've got to do one more thing.

A designer has stepped up and he's come to the forefront as TIA has made a bid to build a brand-new control tower just west of its current spike. The real treat here is that Tulsa is getting LEO A DALY to design the new tower. Now, this should be fun to wait for.

The hot fudge sundae had all the whipped cream, the chocolatey gooeyness, and nuts put on, only to await the cherry.

You get the idea.

And in a short while, travelers and airport enthusiasts will await the final drawings and renderings of a very important --- and critical --- part of TIA's operational effectiveness. Obviously, ease of operating and safety are going to be must-haves in air traffic control. I'm just anxious to see drawings of a final design of a brand-new control tower.

We'll have to wait until about 2023, folks, for any completion of design. Once construction begins at Tulsa International Airport, my guess is, two years or less to build. When there's news, if the good Lord wills, I'll be here to let you know.

I've always liked airports. Of course, I'll get a direct flight if I can but if I have a layover, I've always had a good time being at at airport I've never been to, having a bite to eat and a beer, people watching, the moving sidewalks, the sound of the rolling luggage, etc. Just something about it.

^^^ Hey, Mo! Great reference to Gage and DeSoto. I liked that show, "Emergency!", and that show is about to celebrate 50 years in January.

As for Tulsa's airport, that new control tower will sure look better, and I can't wait until that rascal goes up. Every airport ought to get a bigger, better control tower in this nation if they haven't already. Your move, OKC.
