Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

Praying The Psalms - September 5, 2021

Posted 09-05-2021 at 10:33 AM by Albert Finch

As I open my mouth wide and sing for joy to God, my strength, He gives me abundant provision to satisfy my needs. (Psalm 81:1,10,16)

How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord. My heart and flesh sing for joy as I long for your presence. (Psalm 84:1,2)

I am blessed because I know my strength is in You, My Lord. My heart is one with You as I go from strength to strength. (Psalm 84:5,7)

My Lord is a sun and shield who gives grace and glory. You withhold no good thing from me because I trust in you. (Psalm 84:11,12)

You revive me, O God, when I am met with tribulation. I rejoice in your loving kindness as you save me from my struggle. (Psalm 84:6,7,9)

I cry out to you Lord Jesus, all the day long. You preserve my soul and I live in your forgiveness. (Psalm 86:3,5)

You are gracious to me, O Lord, and make glad the soul of Your servant and give heed to my supplications. (Psalm 86:4,6)

I will glorify Your name, O Lord my God, with all my heart for Your are great and do wondrous miracles. (Psalm 86:10,12)

You, O Lord, are gracious to me and show abundance in lovingkindness and revelation of truth as you have helped me and comforted me. (Psalm 86:15:17)

In Your name I rejoice all the day long as I confess my righteousness in Christ Jesus. (Psalm 89:16)

Why pray the Psalm scriptures out loud?

It is hard to think about something other than what you are talking about. Praying out loud the scriptures solves the problem of the wandering mind. -- spoken words speak to the soul and have the power of raising thoughts in the soul. The Psalm scriptures speak of God in the Highest manner which most fully expresses the power and presence of God.

Strong's definition for "meditate" - HAGAH (Greek) - means to imagine. First pray the scripture out loud -- then pray the scripture back to God. This prayer can be the prayer of thanksgiving, supplication, or praying the greatness of God and the benefits of God.

The first thing that you are to do when you are upon your knees, is to shut your eyes, and with a short silence let your soul place itself in the presence of God.

When you direct any of your petitions to Jesus let it be: thou art the radiance of thy Father's glory. Thou art the Alpha and Omega, The beginning and the end of all things: Thou has destroyed the power of the devil and hast overcome death.
