Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

Praying The Psalms - August 20, 2021

Posted 08-20-2021 at 04:54 PM by Albert Finch

I rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in Him; I praise Him in uprightness of heart. (Psalm 64:10)

Dwelling in Your courts is a blessing since I choose to abide near you and am satisfied in your holiness. (Psalm 65:4)

You answer my petitions with wondrous works for you are the God of my salvation. (Psalm 65:5)

By the strength of your mighty power, you have established the mountains in their place displaying your omnipotence. (Psalm 65:6)

You calm the roaring of the seas, their crashing waves, and the tumult of my heart. (Psalm 65:7)

The whole earth is filled with your wonders and miraculous signs; You make the going forth of the morning and the evening, giving me cause for praise and a shout for joy. (Psalm 65:8)

You have inspected my soul and watered it from your rivers of living water making it ready for the forthcoming harvest of souls. (Psalm 65:9)

Your Word waters my heart, preparing it for fruit-bearing and showers of blessings. (Psalm 65:10)

I shout joyfully unto God, singing the glory of His name and telling the world how glorious He Is. (Psalm 66:1,2)

Because of your greatness and power and wonderful deeds in all the earth, I will sing praises to You and will encourage others to worship You. (Psalm 66:2,4)

Why pray the Psalm scriptures out loud?

It is hard to think about something other than what you are talking about. Praying out loud the scriptures solves the problem of the wandering mind. -- spoken words speak to the soul and have the power of raising thoughts in the soul. The Psalm scriptures speak of God in the Highest manner which most fully expresses the power and presence of God.

Strong's definition for "meditate" - HAGAH (Greek) - means to imagine. First pray the scripture out loud -- then pray the scripture back to God. This prayer can be the prayer of thanksgiving, supplication, or praying the greatness of God and the benefits of God.

The first thing that you are to do when you are upon your knees, is to shut your eyes, and with a short silence let your soul place itself in the presence of God.

When you direct any of your petitions to Jesus let it be: thou art the radiance of thy Father's glory. Thou art the Alpha and Omega, The beginning and the end of all things: Thou has destroyed the power of the devil and hast overcome death.
