What Did Jesus Accomplish On The Cross?

Posted 07-03-2021 at 07:15 PM by MysticPhD

I do not deny Jesus' achievement. I simply want to correct the egregious misunderstanding of what He accomplished to help others to actually know Jesus Christ and God as I encountered them. What God required was at least ONE of us as HUMAN to possess His perfect agape love in our HUMAN consciousness. NONE of us were even trying and most of us still can't begin to approach that perfection. What Jesus did was to accomplish what God needed ONE of us to achieve.

Jesus unambiguously demonstrated God's perfect agape love by possessing it even for His brutal torturers and murderers. What Jesus accomplished in His HUMAN consciousness permanently connected ALL human consciousness with God's Holy Spirit of agape love. His perfection (Grace) effectively eliminated our human species' prior separation from God and our individual need to achieve perfection. That is why God is not counting our failures (sins) against us. That is how Jesus is the Way to Truth, Life, and God for ALL of us and it is how His Grace covers our individual imperfections.

God NEVER needed to have His non-existent vengeance appeased by such a horrendous scourging and crucifixion!!! Certainly not for some cursed ancestral act of disobedience about eating a fruit!!! That is the vilest motivation imaginable. Who could love such a God? How could a Christian who believes Jesus think that God (who IS agape love as Jesus taught) would EVER require such a thing???? Clearly, our ignorant, primitive, savage, and carnal-minded ancestors could. But that it has remained unchanged dogma for millennia does not speak well of our humanity, IMO.
