Replying as a blog...controversial topic and thread-derailer.

We must all make a moral choice to become involved or not at the scene of a wreck.

I once watched a young man bury his bike under the back end of a van at a motorcycle dealer event. He was behaving irresponsibly. There were probably two hundred others watching. I was minding my bestie's then-young son at the time, and felt it unwise to become involved. Many others helped, but far more did not: I didn't want my bestie's son to see dead or grievously injured people. This occurred pre-smartphone, c. 2001.

Thankfully, the foolish young bike rider walked off with minor scrapes, one of those motorcycle wreck miracles. I've seen enough wrecks to know that chance plays a major role. I've hit the ground somewhat hard on the track twice myself and was carried off by ambulance once, walked off the other.

By and large these days, regardless of whom I'm with, I do not get involved. Not worth it...the moral choice.
