Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Texas Rejoices As Governor Abbott Frees Us From Tyranny Nonsense

Posted 03-03-2021 at 07:52 PM by case44

I have every reason to look forward to March 10. You'll have every reason to mark said date on your calendars.

Texas citizens will rejoice. The COVID mask mandate is over. I never was a big fan of these stupid face masks that we've somehow been forced to wear for about a year now. Yes, I understand precautions and not getting others sick. Fair enough. But things have greatly improved now that this COVID crisis has finally diminished. So much for the doomcriers who kept saying that we're going to be mired in this for two more years. President Donald J Trump did the right thing this past year by expediting teams of people to get a vaccine that would, at least, give people some immunity from what had been a complex and unknown virus which was mercilessly forced on the world by the Chinese government and by a careless person in a lab. And we didn't get just one vaccine, but we now are about to unleash a third vaccine to keep people from getting COVID and assure peace of mind. This is progress. And a big thanks to Texas Governor Greg Abbott for making a huge --- and I mean huge --- announcement on Tuesday in Lubbock. Businesses can now re-open to 100 percent capacity effective Wednesday, March 10. Best of all, we have freedom once again!!

Critics, as you would guess, are still out there, and all those killjoys would say is "It's wrong", or "This is all a big mistake", or "You're just going to spread the virus", or "You're ignoring science". You want science, all you fake media and left-wing kooks?? Here's your science: We've got three vaccines cooked up by brilliant scientists and researchers all over this great country called America. There's your science. Are you happy now??!

Now, let me be clear: I'm not saying that we be careless, but also, no one should make us wear a mask. Let that be the decision of individuals. Some folks can still wear masks if they don't quite feel comfortable or who just need to eeeeeeaaase on back in. I, on the other hand, would rather not live my life in total fear. We need normalcy in our lives once again. It's time.

Governor Abbott clearly took a step in the right direction. Texas is a resilient state just like America is a resilient country. We didn't really need this lockdown if people would just have common sense. This is a lesson that can be learned the next time China sends us another pandemic. And even though we currently have the wrong people in Washington, completely clueless and devoid of the great leadership Trump was providing us before the election debacle, we can be sure that Greg Abbott must be commended for showing courage and leadership in one of the more trying times we've faced as a nation. As a proud Texan, I'd say we've come through mighty fine!

Let freedom ring. Mark your calendars. In Texas, we can all breathe easy on March 10. It's just cause to celebrate.

Look, I know that last year, many government officials including President Trump have had to make difficult decisions on how to navigate this pandemic. Trump and red-state officials did the best job, and that's despite bad estimations from one Dr Tony Fauci. I knew that this pandemic would not be stretching out because we've got the best scientists and researchers right here in the good old USA!

Hey, Joe, listen here: I'm glad to be a Neanderthal. Texas is doing just fine and we're all ready to ditch those masks. Sixteen states are being very smart in letting people make their own decisions. If you want to wear a mask, then that's fine. I would rather not live my life in fear. Plus, my ears hurt from this damn mask! The hypocrites and fear-mongerers on the left can just kiss it. We don't have to bow to big government just because they want to take advantage of people during a crisis.

In the meantime, we red states will be just fine. Guess it's time to make some Neanderthal T-shirts and show Biden and his minions a thing or three.
