Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Wine Taster, But Not Necessarily A Guru
Posted 11-07-2020 at 06:36 PM by case44
To say that I'm a connoisseur of wine would not be entirely accurate. I love to taste and sample different wines from time to time, and my preference for drinking is red wine. Now, if you're expecting me to memorize wine names and remember their tastes like the real connoisseurs do, well, you're just going to be disappointed. ![Big Grin](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I prefer a nice, dry red. At various restaurants, they'll have certain brands, but not certain others. And since I can't spend too much on a glass, I generally pick the least expensive wine on the menu. If there's a good Pinot Noir or Merlot or even a Cabernet, then I usually would give one of those the nod. When it comes to white wine, I just haven't found a really good one to suit my taste. Champagne is okay for special occasions, but Ol' Case will need a little more time to find just the right white wine.
As it is, I'll just take the red for now because there are more choices for me, no matter the dish. I'm not much for roses, and burgundy just goes better when incorporated in a beef sauce. I've had my share of Chateaus and Sauvignons and other names I can't quite pronounce to keep up. Face it, sports fans, wine is an international thing. Besides, English is my primary language.![Big Grin](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
By the time the holidays arrive, there will come a time for a glass of red something. It's elegant, fits the mood, and just the right thing to have, even all by itself. You could say the glass is half full. Just don't expect me to memorize all those Italian or French names.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
