Whole Day Shot

Posted 09-18-2020 at 09:38 PM by aliasfinn

Have you ever had a day all planned out and something came along and ruined it ?

A few weeks ago I saw where they were going to run a Get Smart marathon over the weekend on one of the channels. That Friday I bought a box of fudgesicles at the grocery store, my plan was to spend all of Saturday in a recliner eating them while watching Get Smart till 5 o'clock, then switch over to the Three Stooges.

It stormed that night and I was late going to bed. When I got up in the morning I noticed my clock wasn't on and neither was the little fan I run at night.

The storm had knocked out the power. The last time we lost power it was out almost 24 hours. There went my plans of watching TV. I went back to bed for a few hours but couldn't really doze off because the house was too humid and I was soaked with sweat.

I then remembered the fudgesicles, and panic set in. I took one out of the freezer and it was already getting mushy. It was dripping down my arm and half off it came off the stick and fell on the kitchen floor. The cat came over and started pushing it like a hockey puck with his tongue.

It's tough to find things to do that don't require power. I wasn't going to sit in a hot house counting ass hairs, so I decided to go up on the roof and look for missing shingles from the storm.

The cat was still playing hockey when I came back in the house. I ended up scraping off all the fudgesicles from the sticks and put them in a huge bowl and sat in the recliner eating it with a spoon while I peered out the front window.

As soon as I finished eating that melted mess the cat came into the front room, hopped up on the sofa and began licking off his own fudgesicle mess from his face.

I put the bowl in the sink, then got a mop and cleaned up the fudgesicle tracks that were all over the kitchen floor.
It was late when the power came back on, it didn't matter because the day was already shot.
