Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Dow Jones Is Back At 29,000 --- Just As I've Expected

Funny how COVID-19 had been playing with other people's emotions, including mine. The thing with me was, I wasn't going to live in fear. Not with a virus that we had to spend a quick amount of time learning about.

The skeptics amongst the brethren and sisteren had all said that Wall Street and stocks would crash. Oh, we went through a correction earlier this year, and stocks did come down for a fortnight or two. But this Texas gizzard remained optimistic that things would get better. I'm not much into making predictions with uncertain things, but I had a feeling that the Dow would get back to 29,000 points before this year is up. Then I speculated it would be September when the Dow would reach that magic 29K.

A reasonable prediction, I'd say.

Well, did you see what the Dow Jones Industrials did today?? Butter my butt and call me a biscuit , as it has happened. Stocks are back to 29,000 on 2 September. I had speculated for some time that it would be right around September when things on Wall Street would be back to pre-COVID levels, and it's practically the way I called it. Although some folks are still trying to get resettled after losing jobs, and others are just waiting to get back to their actual work buildings after working from home, you could say that America is back. COVID is receding in many states. Politicians are breaking COVID protocol (Did you see Nancy Pelosi going into a supposedly-closed San Francisco hair salon and getting her rug done?), which means that it's now okay to meet in larger groups and take full advantage of public business again.

And, once again, here we are within a short distance of the Dow hitting 30,000. I believe it is now a very short time away. It will get there before I even cast my in-person vote to re-elect our President in a few short weeks.
