The continuing rise of Covid cases with the impending August 17th starting date for the 2020-2021 school year is causing many sleepless nights for all of the parents of school-age kids that I know. Whether your county chooses Plan A,B or C, I don't think these plans can be set in stone for the school year. Bigger, more populated counties can having varying outbreak levels in their individual municipalities that require changing the plan very quickly. The same thing can happen in rural counties at a slower pace.

Teachers, especially those that are in a position to retire, may have to make that big decision in the next few months. I know this from personal experience. My sister is an Occupational Therapist in a NJ school system, who told me last week that if she doesn't like the working conditions in the Fall, she'll submit her resignation. I told her that at 65, she's no "kid" and should take care of herself. But she and her teacher colleagues "love" their jobs. It will be a real dilemma for school systems in the coming months if they lose school personnel that they can't easily or quickly replace.
I, being a former CMS thrid-grade teacher, totally agree with all that you are stating here. My husband and I are so glad I no longer am teaching and we have no kids. I wish the best for all, especially parents and students in implementing this chaotic upcoming school year with their own work and personal situations. I will keep everyone in my prayers.
