Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Texas Reopening For Business: In Come The Airplanes

Getting off of work for my weekend felt good. I went D/FW International Airport mid-afternoon, and things were a bit dead. Fine, then. I decided then to run an errand in Roanoke and check out a few projects on Oak Street.
Did my eyes deceive me? People were gathering streetside to eat on the patio at area restaurants. Crowds are slowly starting to come back. Social distancing was abandoned for a bit since these groups ate together at tables. A good sign, I guess. So, after the errand and the Oak Street visit, I was about to actually head home, and by the time I got back into Grapevine, I saw quite a few airplanes landing at D/FW.
Hot dang!
So, The Case decided to trudge over to Founders Plaza. My lands, every parking space there was taken up, and people were gathering to watch the planes. Well, your favorite blogger just stopped on a curbside spot so as not to impede passing cars, and in from the north they came. The western section of D/FW Airport is once again aflurry with activity, and I haven't seen this many planes landing since before the COVID-19 interruption. This made my weekend for sure. I love watching planes land, and they were coming in, one after the other. Unbridled joy!!!
My state is showing some signs that we're almost back, even though we've got a ways to go at work and at other places. The thing is, we're getting there. If watching airplanes is your cup of tea, then you should come on over to D/FW International Airport and see what life is like at America's second-largest airport. And the best is yet to come.

Fast-forward to October 2020: Still not many airplanes in the air, but some. D/FW is, after all, one of the busier airports in the country. Even though COVID has had its ups and downs (and right now, some ups), we need to get airlines like Delta back in the air and flying. If it means having just twenty people booked for a flight, then just do it anyway. You'll always have people needing to go somewhere.Posted 10-18-2020 at 12:20 PM by case44
