COVID-19: Personal Update 2020-03-30 From Kirkland WA

Posted 03-30-2020 at 10:51 AM by Blondebaerde

CORONAVIRUS

A deadly new virus from China, which causes respiratory illness and pneumonia, is spreading around the world. CDC calls it COVID-19. I live in Kirkland, WA, about two miles due south of the outbreak's original United States epicenter, with multiple cases and the first substantial deaths.

(Caveat: one man, one IT worker, one opinion: I have no extra info over and above, one commentary only.)

Recommended national dialog as an outcome of this Pandemic...maybe there should be hearings in 2021...absent politics should objectively find the following:

(Note: I'm not stupid and realize that "absent politics" is a non-starter. I'm saying, "ideally." These are blatantly obvious, even to the odious so-called "press":

Protect our borders:

Clearly open borders are a BS vector of crime, filth, and disease transmission with too few checks and balances. There is a lot of lobbying going around, and a dishonest so-called "press" failing to report on this, but screening for disease and economic NEED does need to be law of the land. So called "refugees" are economic migrants for the most part and can take up their petition with Mexico first.

Manufacturing (Strategic):

The American people share blame here. I'm not sure how to "nationally convince" millions that paying 2x for, say, nitrile gloves made in Scranton PA Johnson and Johnson plant is the superior move to buying-same from Hong's House of Rubber based on Wuhan Province. I've worked closely with supply chain in IT, notably with Walmart, and their ruthlessly efficient JIT is a marvel to behold. Very few goods in their massive warehouses outside Bentonville gather dust. But that's the problem: people, us, gravitate toward MAXIMUM VALUE, not abstractions like "strategic interest" in our goods and services. I'm not 100% on this one in terms of solutions, it may come down to tariffs and less than efficient market moves.

Don't Depend as Much on Other Counties

Amen to that, a direction we're being taken. Shut borders and air routes when needed. Deals like the old NAFTA seemed great for trade but had unintended consequences. Most circles back around to previous two points: 1) order national shutdown of travel vectors and airspace when needed, quickly as practicable, though there WILL be political hell to pay. 2) Free flow of people in an uncontrolled way will be the death of us. We probably need a five year moratorium on ANY immigration, legal or otherwise, to assess.

CHINA:

Where to begin. I won't even type out what most thinking people know about how they do business. We must not give up our moral center to embrace horrifying methods of social control, this I do know.

Democrats:

IMO, a party mere inches from embracing Communism. They are already Statists and Socialists. Filthy far Left opportunists at-best, under the guise of so-called "humanitarian positions" that will kill us all, given sufficient runway.
