In Defense of Americans and American English

Using the term "Chinese virus" is in no way, and by no means, improper. Anyone who says otherwise is possibly failing to understand American culture, American English, and the semantics of both the term and the adjective used in the term. Look it up, Gov. Pritzker:

Regardless of what other languages (or countries) may or may not do, in American English, words have more than one meaning. The context of the term's use, as well as Trump's explanation of its use, shows that Trump used the adjective "Chinese," which means "relating to China," that is, "pertaining to China." In this context of Trump's proper use of American English and the adjective "Chinese," "China" is a place--not a race, not an ethnic group, not a people. There therefore is neither racism nor any reference to the race or ethnicity of the good folks who live in the place called China. There is only a proper use of American English, in line with American culture, clearly verified by a dictionary of American English, and, of course--an American governor's possible failure to understand American culture, American English, and the semantics of both the term and the adjective used in the term.

The governor of Illinois, and others who have expressed a problem with the term "Chinese virus," who have called the term and its use "racist," (1) are doing damage to themselves, whether they realize it, and (2) quite frankly owe Americans an apology. If they cannot read the dictionary definition and understand that there is no racism whatsoever, then they do not deserve to be in power.

As a person of American culture, I cannot even begin to tell you how profoundly offended I am over this profoundly asinine presentation of the r-word. I demand an apology from the governor of Illinois, and an apology from Hillary Clinton, who additionally said something just as wrong. It can be said that they are ^either^--^you^ decide--(1) less than intelligent, or (2) deliberately choosing to be disrespectful to Americans for political reasons. ^Either way,^ they are showing themselves to be ^unworthy^ of their being in charge of Americans. We already know that Hillary Clinton has little respect for Americans, since she has called many of them "deplorable," which is precisely the reason she lost the 2016 election, though she still likely doesn't understand.

If, after their having been asked, both refuse to apologize, then I will have adequate reason to suspect that neither is worthy. A dictionary of American English makes the situation very, very clear. These folks seem to have absolutely no idea how much harm and damage they have done to themselves and their causes. Perhaps they should hand their college degrees back to the associating universities, if they cannot understand the dictionary definition of the word "Chinese."

I'll bet the Chinese are smart enough to know that it's not racist. (The word "Chinese" in the preceding sentence is a noun with the meaning "natives of China" and refers to the good folks of the ethnicity that runs the place called China. Trump used the adjective "Chinese" in the phrase "Chinese virus" and meant the "virus that pertains to China," that is, the "virus that started in the place called China." If you cannot understand this, give your college degree back to the university.)
