Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Plenty Of Mettle For A Metal Medal

Posted 10-23-2019 at 07:17 PM by case44

I just typically don't celebrate Halloween. That doesn't mean, however, that Ol' Case can't have any fun at work.

Last year, I dressed up as a mob boss, and there really wasn't that much to it. This year, I plan to do something different, and again, there isn't going to be much to it at all. On a trip to the costume store, I explored possibilities like Elvis or a doctor coming out of surgery. The Elvis outfits were tough to get into (as you have to enter legs first, with the zipper above the waistline). The top was not going to fit on either available costume. So I had the crew search for a doctor's gown. No soap. Finally, I had explored the idea of a simple cowboy hat. Upon paying some money for the rental hat, the gentleman also gave me a meager little badge with a loose pin that looks like it's about to come out. But I can't help it; it's a really good-looking, thin piece of metal that will look grand on your favorite blogger.

That sheriff's badge would look good on a plain, cream-colored shirt. I'll just have to search for one this weekend for keeps, but that badge alone will go farther than anything I put up last year. The blue jeans I already have will be a nice touch. Oh, but that badge will make the long arm of the law northeast of the Pecos.

Just purchased a bolo tie at Cavender's. It'll go great with the Western get-up.

Who knows what's next? A horse?
