Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Excerpt From 2019 Post Season General Discussion
Time for a few pickings from one of our forum threads:
Now, some perspective: Houston is back again. All along, I think you knew that things would turn out like this. Great storylines, great plays, and great games. And that's not to mention Greg Amsinger from MLB Network when he had that big reaction to Zack Greinke having been traded to the Astros on July 31 from the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Yes, you remember that.
And Jose Altuve grabs an MVP award after finishing another American League Championship Series with some more heroics, particularly the big hit in Game 6. That was a home run that hit over the yellow line in left center at Minute Maid to propel the 'Stros into their third World Series appearance. What a moment!
So, here we are. Wishful thinking would have had the Astros winning World Series titles in 1980, 1986, and, just for grins, 1998.
It could have happened, but it didn't. Just think if these guys could go to a few more World Series and win them in the next few years. Then you'd be talking not only dynasty, but the Astros as an elite franchise. Now, they're a long way from that distinction, but at this point in time, they do have an elite team.
May the better team win come Tuesday and for however long it takes. For me, I'll just root for my Houston Astros.![Smile](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Jose is certainly adding more epic drama to his resume by the season. It's something we can talk more about in a few years, because if he stays healthy, then he has a shot for 3,000 hits. We'll cross that bridge when we get near it.
The Astros, meanwhile, are trying to make up for lost time. They should have had titles in 1980 and 1986, at least, as those teams and players they had then were good enough. As for today, the Astros are back in the driver's seat. It's refreshing that we don't have Yankees-Dodgers; we'll see them some other year. Not now, though. Houston and Washington both have genuinely good players and they deserve this particular spotlight.

I will say this: The Astros are on the cusp of having a dynasty. We'll find out soon enough.

You really need to see this. Absolutely insane double play after a diving catch by Michael Brantley.
