Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Case On The Dance Floor? We'll See If I've Still Got It

Posted 07-19-2019 at 04:52 PM by case44

There used to be a time --- used to be, now --- when Ol' Case could just tear up a dance floor. In my younger years, it was disco dancing, as it was quite the rage. Even today, and especially at high school reunions, you'd see disc jockeys play some intense disco songs for those who still "have it".

While I don't have a reunion to go to at this time, my co-workers want to do a post-birthday celebration for me at a local restaurant, whose dining room gets converted to a dance floor at the strike of 10. Whether or not this old geezer has anything left in the tank remains to be seen, but I'm going to try my hand at salsa dancing. My resort to cheating will be YouTube, but I have to at least see what it's all about before I take the floor tomorrow night (at this writing). I took a peek the other night, and it doesn't look like it's that hard to do. The important thing is that I learn a few key moves, and so I'd best get them....

Don't laugh.

Age is one of those realities that just catches up with you after one celebrates yet another birthday. Mine is no exception. Then again, dancing is going to provide a little therapy after the other therapy of taking to the road early in the morning for a road trip. After I get back, however, it's preparation.

I asked y'all not to laugh......

Look at it this way, I'll have ladies there. That's right, sports fans, Case surrounded by ladies. Ladies who work in my office. Ladies who are interested in having a great time. Ladies who have waited all week...........to see me dance. Enough of the small talk. Post-birthday celebrations away from work are always about letting your hair down. My buzz hair will worth putting down once the dinner ends and the movement begins.

I can tell you this much: If there's any slow dancing, then you'd better believe I'll grab the first woman who is game for it.

    You're wondering, aren't you?

It never came to fruition. At the restaurant, they pushed back the time for dancing by one hour from the original time. So, we ate and fellowshipped, but that's it.

    Maybe another time.
