Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Nostalgia: Andy Griffith Just Knew How To Pitch A Product

Posted 07-01-2019 at 01:58 PM by case44

Back in the day, I just knew that I had grown up in a great time. The 1970s were just chock full of great commercials, and especially those which pitched food products. And if you go on YouTube, then you'll find numerous celebrities who pitched different types of food, whether it was something you could make in a kitchen, or if it was served in a restaurant.

For this post, I'll select Andy Griffith. Yesteryear, he just made some of the greatest commercials for food ever made, and he didn't have to put too much into them to make them work. Heck, I was on YouTube a moment ago and saw a series of Ritz commercials that Andy had done, including two which I've never seen or even recalled. Must have turned away from the TV as a youth and didn't realize some of these commercials came on.

Return with me now to those thrilling days of.......well, you know. Here below are three YouTubes of classic Andy Griffith, pitching A-1 Steak sauce and Ritz crackers.

And below is one which I had no idea even existed.

Still, though, Ritz is a good cracker.

Hey, every now and then, I've got to have a celebrity in this blog page. We've had Kevin Bacon, so why not Andy Griffith?? He could pitch roadkill, and it would taste good. Pretty much, he was a master with food, and it seems he didn't do enough of those spots.

Television's favorite sheriff just knew the right thing to do. Consequently, he made classics.
