Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Community Impact Magazine Expanding Outside Of Texas

This particular magazine is a good read. It's also very informative. Best of all, you can actually get this online and not have to travel to Texas (for those of you outside of it). And this writer is just very glad that it all began when I stumbled upon an issue of this magazine years ago at a local library.

Community Impact is expanding its reach beyond the three largest Texas metropolitan areas. Already, it has "impacted" Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and Austin with superb business and restaurant coverage, the openings, and the closings. This is a great way for me to keep up with business trends in my area. Now, it's going beyond Texas in terms of reaching others. Not too long ago, CI got started in the Phoenix area by spotlighting Gilbert. I would suspect that other Phoenix suburbs will follow. The latest entry into CI's repertoire is Nashville, with the suburbs of Franklin and Brentwood getting some attention. The magazine really is catching on.

If only Community Impact could include more D/FW suburbs plus a little bit from the two big cities. You'd think that the Park Cities would warrant some attention. The same would hold true for Dallas' Uptown area, North Dallas, Addison, Irving (Las Colinas), Arlington, Mansfield, Rockwall, Rowlett, Fort Worth Alliance, and Southwest Fort Worth. Why CI hasn't hit those places is beyond me.

For now, though, I ask them to keep up the good work. This writer eagerly awaits the next issue.

As has been speculated, CI is expanding its Dallas-Fort Worth coverage. In just a month from now, the areas surrounding Keller, Roanoke, and northeast Fort Worth will be added. And in September, Las Colinas and Coppell will be added for coverage.
