Here I am and I went to Ta Phrom again first thing before the Rush started. In fact a Temple guard attached himself to me (as they do) and I asked him about the Frieze of animals. "Ah" he grinned. "Dinosaur". He showed me where it was and bit me ear for $10.

In fact, I could have found it easily from the more usual western gate approach; turn right as you enter the central temple court. And there it was. Genuine, no tampering. Not even the tail - you can be sure I looked. Six and possibly 7 scales. Background decor perhaps. Above is an equally odd beast - rather hippo - looking. and above, monkeys apparently in trees looking down (Lucy and ancestors?) so not much of a clue. The clue would be to check these animal friezes (they seem to have just one in each Temple) in various temples and get a clue as to what they are showing. I did get a vidcamera shot of it If I got the thing working properly.
