Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Too Much Hype For Absolutely Nothing At All

Posted 12-20-2018 at 06:29 PM by case44

What passes for media in these great United States should just make people laugh sometimes. Something that doesn't really happen gets way too much hype. And even if that something comes to pass, I guarantee you, nobody will even notice, because things really won't change.

Wondering what this is, you might ask??

You've been hearing a lot about a government shutdown in Washington, D.C. You've heard about how it might take place soon if certain things in our government system don't happen. Let me tell you people something: This "thing" that's supposedly happened before in Washington and that might supposedly happen soon................

...............really isn't going to happen even if so many people believe it will.

I'm as sick and tired of it as many of you are. You see, my friends, our government never really does shut down. It doesn't. Post offices will still gather and deliver mail. Workers will still be collecting checks. Christmas will go on as planned. Your life and my life will not change one iota.

Here's our friend Rush Limbaugh to explain the government shutdown myth to us. It was from a 2014 show, but he has reiterated this myth theory again on programs done this week. You'll need to read deep into this text to find it.

https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2...shutdown_myth/

Can we, for just once, stop the nonsense? Our government is not going to shut down just because things don't happen. Never mind what the news is right now; that's not even the point. We place too much emphasis on government. We'll be just fine. Honest.

So, let's just go smell some roses. Really. Let's do that.

No matter what you've been hearing from others or reading from others, please don't buy into this idea of a government shutdown. President Trump is just playing along, but he knows and we know that our government never really does shut down. It never does.

Regarding the news of the day, yes, we need that border wall, and, yes, we need to get it funded. It's taken this type of political maneuvering, but things still have to get done.
