Stuff on my mind

Posted 03-07-2009 at 01:53 AM by PastorBill

I sent this message as an e-mail to AME Church. This message was not meant to be facesious or mean spirited. These things have been on my mind for a while & I needed to get it out. I want to open this up for dialogue. If you want to be racist or hateful; DON'T because I can have you blocked. Please keep an open mind & heart.

Why do you not use the name of Jesus in your belief statement? You are using the word Christ, but not the name of Jesus. Why do you call America WHITE AMERICA? Why do you teach and adhere to the black liberation theology? That theology teaches that all white people are responsible for slavery & the way African Americans were treated, (I am white and I know the way blacks were treated was terrible & shameful) no matter when we were born. That is wrong. By making that statement you might as well say that anyone who votes for the democratic party are murderers because they vote in representatives who legislate for abortion rights. If you believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God then you know that is murder. Black liberation theology teaches that whites are responsible because they profited from slavery or did not speak out against slavery. Well because you guys (black or white democrats) do not stand against abortion you are responsible for the murder of thousands of unborn babies, Babies that never had the opportunity or the voice to fight for civil rights. God wants us to use our voice to fight for the civil rights of the unborn (unborn babies meaning black, white, & all unborn babies, they are all precious in his sight). African Americans had the opportunity with the help of a lot of whites to fight for their civil rights, which blacks obviously deserve. One of the things I keep hearing from black America is that we need to open up and talk about racism, but they don't want to have true dialogue or conversation. They want to bring out all the bad things that white America has done to them. They don't want to talk about the fact that Abraham Lincoln signed the emancipation proclamation, Gen David Hunter who by himself without a direct order from government set slaves free in Florida, Georgia, & South Carolina, all the white abolitionists like Wilber Wilberforce, other white Americans who marched with Dr. King, whites who were lynched & shot in the head by the KKK for driving black demonstrators to and from the marches. Black America wants to bring out all the stupid & ugly things whites have done, but one act of white hate towards a black does not define the whole race of white people no more than an act of hate towards a white from a black defines the whole black race. I am a white person who loves all nationalities of people. I was watching Tavis Smiley on this years black America state of the union. I was bothered by it because white people like me want to move forward and embrace one another without any hindrances, segregation, or separation. And if we are going to talk about the issue of race lets talk about the issue as a whole. One thing I have noticed is that a lot of blacks seem to want to be separate. There are a lot of organizations and people out there that want to keep us separate. However for those of us who are Christians we are called to a higher standard of love. Does 1 cor 13 really matter? Maybe we should all spend more time reading that one chapter. I call it extreme love. I want to end by saying that Satan is involved in this whole situation because there is greatness in blacks & whites coming together. I see a day where we do not even see a color, we just see each other as brothers & sisters. We need to find a way to push on. I love you all & I hope I did not say anything offensive, that certainly was not my purpose in this e-mail. God bless you all. Peace be unto you in the precious name of Jesus (black, white, gray, yellow, or green. I don't care what color Jesus is. He is my Lord & Savior.)

1 Corinthians 13
1IF I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even] of angels, but have not love (that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such [a]as is inspired by God's love for and in us), I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
2And if I have prophetic powers ([b]the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), and understand all the secret truths and mysteries and possess all knowledge, and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God's love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody).
3Even if I dole out all that I have [to the poor in providing] food, and if I surrender my body to be burned or [c] in order that I may glory, but have not love (God's love in me), I gain nothing.
4Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
5It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
6It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
7Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
8Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy ([d]the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].
9For our knowledge is fragmentary (incomplete and imperfect), and our prophecy (our teaching) is fragmentary (incomplete and imperfect).
10But when the complete and perfect (total) comes, the incomplete and imperfect will vanish away (become antiquated, void, and superseded).
11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; now that I have become a man, I am done with childish ways and have put them aside.
12For now we are looking in a mirror that gives only a dim (blurred) reflection [of reality as [e]in a riddle or enigma], but then [when perfection comes] we shall see in reality and face to face! Now I know in part (imperfectly), but then I shall know and understand [f]fully and clearly, even in the same manner as I have been [g]fully and clearly known and understood [[h]by God].
13And so faith, hope, love abide [faith--conviction and belief respecting man's relation to God and divine things; hope--joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love--true affection for God and man, growing out of God's love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love.
