Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Ol' Case Needed A Good Laugh, But You Might Not Believe Where

Sometimes, we have our moments right here on City-Data, where it's great to be alive. We've put together (well, from time to time) memorable threads that can provide great moments for a lot of people.

And one thread that comes to mind was one called "Name The Tune" in our Music forum. Lots of things happen in that particular ball of wax, designed as a game to see which poster can name a specific tune with a very limited clue. And music games are, indeed, a lot of fun to play. The OP can get a little bit passionate when trying to help with clues without having to reveal too many details. It's also a thread where some posters and the OP "get at each other's throats", but it all stems from some occasional misunderstandings in how the game is expedited. One page that sticks out in my mind is Page 286, where the OP was believed to have said something to provoke me, a charge which was later denied. Hey, at least, it got straightened out and we continued our game, but it wasn't without reaction from other posters participating on the thread. At the time of said incident, it wasn't very funny, but now, I look back on it and just burst into wild laughter. I'd laugh so hard that it would just melt into tears as I reflect on the conflict of the moment. Amazing, isn't it, how things can get contentious during a simple little game? Ol' Case just needed a really good laugh. I've got to look at some of the other pages from "Name The Tune" in case another good, hard chuckle is badly needed to remedy whatever it is that needs remedying. As funny as the incident turned out to be, just equally funny are the reactions folks give to those things.

Glad every single one of us has a favorite thread, somewhere out there in City-Dataland whenever a smile needs to make an appearance on our faces. Hopefully, you gentle readers out there have had that laugh today.
