Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Les Miles At Kansas? Might Be Good For The Big 12
Posted 11-23-2018 at 02:22 PM by case44
I've heard some co-workers say that this move will be good for the Big 12 Conference. Who would have ever thought that Les Miles would ever be hired as head football coach of the Kansas Jayhawks?
I see that no hands are raised.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Where the university is concerned, this is massive. At a school where basketball is king and football, well, isn't, this just gets Kansas back into respectable territory. Yes, it will be good for the Big 12 over a period of time. While we still ask questions about why this conference still doesn't have twelve teams in it
, Miles will certainly bring crowds to Lawrence. It could also spell trouble for Kansas State, Texas Tech, and Baylor as they had been contenders in the past, but this potential Kansas uprising might push the three to the bottom of the heap.

Getting to the top will not be easy for Kansas, and I really don't think you'll see an Art Briles type of outburst there like we saw a few moons ago at Baylor. I will tell you that, as close as Kansas came to beating my Texas Longhorns just before this writing (Texas won, by the way), it could easily have a different outcome with Les Miles as head coach. Watch and see.
