Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

D-I-E-T? Yes, And I'd Better Not Cave

Forget all you know about the need for testosterone. Men my age go through the horrific ritual of seeing his body and his psyche decline that one wonders if we'd be able to escape this abyss.

Some men do. Some don't.

Your writer just got some bloodwork done not too long ago at a clinic, and there was an electronic scale in the room. After Pokey got the withdrawal from my arm, I stood up and got up on the scale and the reading showed up before my Texas blue eyes.

294. That's 2-9-4!

I'm one of those who would like to overcome being overweight. Problem is, I cannot return back to age 29 all over again. Yes, there's this thing called exercise. But my doctor also said diet is the reason for all the weight gain. Let's face it, sports fans, when Ol' Case gets the cravings, he usually goes after it real hard. Well, now, I've got to go after something else real hard. It's called will power. I love food, period, but there has to come a time to just back off for a little bit.

If 294 pounds cannot motivate an individual, then I don't know what will. Dieting inevitably comes to mind. Hey, there's nothing wrong with munching on nuts or a few sliced apples in between meals and even with lunch at work. You could say that I've already started the effort. One of the things I've dealt with in previous efforts at dieting is caving. That's right, caving whenever I'd give in to a heavier meal, and it usually happens about three or four days in. I have purposefully avoided that this time around, just by keeping 2-9-4 on my brain. That kind of weight is not pretty on a guy.

Persistence must pay off this time, or it'll never happen. My goal is just get down to around 260 sometime next month, when I'm slated to see my endocrinologist again. Wish me well.

I'll be honest, after having 5 kids I couldn't afford the surgery! I got desperate and tried everything! Nothing seemed to help! That is until I came across a cookbook on facebook and it is the truth indeed my friend! I'm trying to help others, because surgery can be expensive... I posted the link below.
