While it is true that Jax has a reputation of not being great, the fact is that Jax is the largest city in the US by square mileage. Ponte Vedra is worlds different than the high crime areas. Since you are from NYC you will understand this comparison...Upper East Side (Ponte Vedra) compared to Bed Sty (the least desirable areas of jax) - totally different worlds!
Ponte Vedra is one of the wealthiest and most highly educated communities in all of Florida. It is up there with West Palm Beach and while no where is crime free, the draw for this area is the family and resort feel of the town. Best schools in the state also!
Lots of retired NYPD and FDNY around here as well. We all love the income tax free benefits of Florida! ;-)
Message me with any questions - we are also a retired LEO family and native NYers....we'd be happy to grab a starbucks and chat about the area when you are here. We even have friends from Baltimore coming down next week to look at moving here as well. You will love that people are from everywhere here so they are really friendly and places like Nocatee are a literal melting pot of people so everyone is eager to make friends and meet new people.

I’m looking for at least a 4 bedroom house closer to 3000sq feet. We would like a yard, and a pool is a must. We weren’t too big on the community’s with all the amenities but now we love the idea and are excited to move into one with all those features. I also love that this area is a melting pot (with lots of my fellow NYers lol). I can’t wait to start the relocation process and move down there already! Our time frame is minimum a year at this point.
What are the CDDs and all the tax exemptions? Moving to DE from NY was a nice change on the tax side - our RE taxes are $1600 a year!!! It’s goikg to be very hard leaving that lol but the trade off moving south is far greater than staying here for good taxes.
Thanks in advance for all your advice and help!!

Blogs Are For Journaling Only
If you need to just interact with another poster, then please use the Direct Message or Visitor Message to reach that person directly and personally (and more quickly). It beats wasting a blog post. Otherwise, I suggest replying on the main forum pages.
Then after you've reached out to your party, you can then share that experience and your results on these blog pages. Please bear in mind that these lesser-populated blog pages are for journaling only. Thanks.Posted 08-03-2018 at 06:55 PM by case44
