Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Free Gas, Got Gassed, And Now, I'm Aghast

Posted 06-02-2018 at 08:38 PM by case44

Boy, talk about potential swindle! A co-worker of mine had told me yesterday afternoon that KHKS-FM (106.1, Dallas) was going to give away free gasoline. And not only that, but the location of the free gasoline would be served not very far from where I live. That location would be disclosed on KissFM at 5 p.m. CDT.

Now, this writer did have some errands to take care of, including filling up the gas tank in due course. So, after the bank, Ol' Case had gone back to the Case abode and get his rent payment to the leasing office. Well, 5 p.m. had passed, and your writer did not have KHKS on his radio. So I missed out on the free gas. The next day, at work, that same co-worker told me that there had been a scam.

Say that again, Case.....????

There had been a scam. The radio station promised free gasoline to some lucky listeners. Free. Well, it turns out, there ended up a cost of the gasoline after all once the location was disclosed. Listeners now had to pay ten dollars for their tank of gas. A reduced price compared to everyone else? Sure, but the radio station did not keep true to its promise of free. As it was, I did not really miss anything, but in retrospect, I got gassed by a gas of a scam that's bad enough but no worse than, say, Solyndra.

So your writer doesn't listen much to KHKS, anyway, and he filled up his gas tank. At a new gas station. Yes, at the regular price, but that's life.

There is good news, and that's gas prices are going down in some places. Down to $2.40 where I'm at.
