Referring to everyone from outside the South as "Yankees" is just plain weird from my perspective.

No, I'm not interested in church, hunting, country music, etc nor do i have any intention of assimilating into any of these.
I find the Sir bit ok, that doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the use of Mr and my first name when calling me. Such as at a crowded doctors office. When I first moved here, I didn't realize they were calling me. One day at a busy lab 3 men stood up, when they called Mr James. I told them please call me by my last name, so there are no mixups. To me its common sense.

I hear Yankee quite often, and I'm sure they are not complimenting. That geograaphical region,

I seriously doubt many in Calif spend much time listing ways to insult the south. I personally find a certain segment of the southeast is quick to find fault with many of us. I'm sorry but I don't find referring to people as Yankees, as very. polite or intelligent. Not in this day and age.

That's my 2 cents while this thread is still around.
