IN REPLY TO: Beware. Craigslist has shut down it's personals...
Quote:
CL shut down personals, wow. Back in the day, that being mid-2000s, I cruised it often. It was a gold mine for a presentable, articulate, person in their thirties. Met some presentable, articulate, legitimately single ladies there, too. Quite a few. It was a the primitive Tinder of its day, in that took days to connect vs. perhaps 1-2 days and a right-swipe. Primitive by today's standards. I have zero regrets, nor hopefully does anyone I met. One, at least, is a FB friend to this day. Nice lady, we went from hookup to pals over a decade. Miracles happen!
That all ground to a halt at some point, when it was overrun with spam and hookers. So ended that lesson. When filled with prostitutes, it served another purpose. That's called "vice" and it's been around for, oh, about 2 million years since the first hominids made transactions. Get over it. Women complain, men grin and pretend to play along, the vice continues.
And always will.
Then some psycho comes on and kidnaps and kills three people, and the cops roll their eyes and become involved. Or nearly as bad, young dumb bunnies are trafficked and exploited. Both horrid, of course. That ruins the whole thing. There is critical mass of public outcry, and politicians get involved like the entire retarded movement around "banning guns" at-current. "Solutions" are put forward that don't solve squat, like shooting the messenger, bad pun intended. Shut down the portals. Shut down the gun stores or sue the manufacturers. Yeah, that will help. Idiots.
So, let's go to bottom line:
- If you didn't know, a couple years ago an increasingly popular site popped up for well-to-do men to arrive and young bunnies to make themselves available for companionship. I'll not bother to name it, it's pretty obvious to any man seeking companionship from a woman who isn't a hag, nag, or want half his property. Think of that as you will, the site simply makes connections easier. They do not tolerate tranactional, illegal prostitution: not for an instant. Can't wait until some politician tries to shut that down, too, as three more will crop up a week later. I think it's awesome, personally.
- Whatever just happened to CL has shifted to, as I said, at least three other sites. Some are mentioned on this thread. Others are not. Do a little search, if you are interested. Shows how dumb these "laws" are. Vice will never, ever, be stamped out. Thank God for the Internet, it's definitely shaking out my inner Libertarian.
- Look at the bright side: rumor my from cop friends is that street prostitution is way down, at least here in one city (my home, Seattle) because it's mostly "gone indoors." See above. Out of site, out of mind. If you don't like it, gee, I dunno: put out more, maybe your husband won't be out looking for some strange.
