Am I allowed to bring my own earrings when getting my ears pierced for the first time?

It depends on what material the earrings are made out of and where you are getting your ears pierced. If you are going to a chain store that uses piercing guns, you will most likely have to choose from their selection of jewelry (I highly do not recommend this). If you go to a reputable piercing studio, you should be able to bring your own jewelry if it follows the APP guidelines. The APP minimum standard materials for initial jewelry are:
-titanium
-14k or higher yellow, white, or rose gold (it must be nickel and cadmium free)
-nickel free platinum alloy
-Niobium
-PTFE, Tygon, or other medically accepted plastic polymers
The jewelry must have a mirror finish as well. If you choose to bring your own jewelry, you will have to bring it at least 24 hours in advance to get it sterilized and processed.
