Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Wrong Number Must Be My Middle Name

Ever have an unwanted phone call on your telephone? Ever have several of them in a short span, by different people? I wouldn't say that my situation is quite that drastic, but I'd rather get phone calls from people I actually know. Personally, if it's not some hot female on the other end, then I'd resist the call. ![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Chances are, you'll, from time to time, get calls from people that think they've reached their party when they get on your answering machine, and they only think they know who they're talking to. Truth is, many folks need to check the number and dial again. Today, I got a message from someone looking for Tom. Oh, swell. So, today, I'm Tom.
Other days, I've gotten calls from certain agencies or law firms or what have you, and they are looking for someone with my last name, but a different first name. Some of them actually got calls back from me, asking them to take me off of their list. How I got on there in the first place is a mystery.
Earlier today, I became Tom. I've been called on other days, and people are looking for Tim, or Keith, or Duane. Anyone that's not me, in other words. And who knows who I'll be next time? Philip? Michael? Bill? Person X?
It's amazing the things that happen when this writer is away at work or running errands.
But if there's a hot babe on the other end, it won't matter if she gets the wrong person next time. I'll actually call her back and just pretend that I'm him.
We'll try that for size.
