The race of life!

Posted 03-01-2009 at 01:48 AM by PastorBill

I have heard it said that we all start on the same starting line in life. Though I wish that statement were true, I don't believe it to be true. The only people I have heard say that are those who had things handed down to them. I have never heard a successful person who has gained success by their own hard work say things like that. However I have heard successful people who were basically born with great opportunities and success already just because of who they were say that we all start from the same starting line. The only instance that is true is birth. We are all born into this world, but many people are born into privilege and many are born into lack. Let me use a track analogy here please. I ran track in school. I ran the 100M sprint & the 4 x 100M relay. You have 4 runners on the relay team. Each team runs in one lane. Lane 1, 2, 3, & 4, however these lanes do not start from the same starting line. Lane 1 is the inside lane and further back, lane 2 is further up than lane 1, and lane 3 is further up than lane 2, and lane 4 is further up than lane 3. It would look like the team in lane 4 has the advantage. However when it is all said and done they even out because lanes 2-4 take longer tuns than lane 1. With that being said however the team runs 400M. We need to understand that in a lot of ways this life is a 100 meter Sprint and not a 400M relay. Meaning this life is but a vapor it is here one day and gone the next. So in life the people in lane 4 are born with an advantage because they are further up and since a lot of times life is a 100M sprint they have less distance to travel. The reason I wanted to bring this out is because no matter which lane we race in, we need to thank God for a starting line and a finish line. We need to thank God we are in the race. My prayer for you is that you will run your race with perseverance, dignity, character, passion, hope, faith, & Love. make a decision to get back on TRACK. A great place to do that is in a church. I hope this analogy did not confuse you. If you ran track and understand the relay the analogy will make total sence. God bless you all and we will see you soon. Pueblo bound.
