hunterseat df: Hunter Seat Equitation is a division that is judged on the ability and the style of the rider. The riders can be judged both over fences and on the flat.

Although true, hunters DO eat, at least the skilled ones do, my name derives from the world of horses.

And because the word hunter is in my name, people automatically think I'm a guy. Not even close.

Whenever I meet someone named Hunter I have to bite my tongue to keep from saying "That's my name, too!"

Competition. If you're old enough you can visualize that ski jumper wiping out and still hear the rest of the phrase "The agony of defeat". (if you're young, google it)

I went camping last night. And plenty of competition was to be had.

We have a rather small tent. This is only our 2nd camping trip (besides sleeping on the beach in Hawaii but that's a whole 'nother blog entry!). So we were assigned a site that was... meh? But they gave us an alternate for comparison. SCORE!!! Wow it was literally right on the edge of the pond. We could sit in our chairs and cast worms. First competition: camp sites and the shoreline site WINS!!!

Then casting worms...vs the baby catfish, not much of a challenge but the baby catfish won that one.

There were TONS of frogs so, for sheer volume, frogs vs fish: frogs.

HOWEVER, there seems to be a theme among the frequent campers below the age of around 10 to see how many frogs can be caught in their pails. They were mostly girls but they were serious competitors. Girls vs frogs: Girls

While the chef prepared food on the camp stove, I prepared the campfire for foil wrapped smoked turkey legs and apples. That man actually LEFT THE STOVE to walk over to the fire and overstoke it with an armful of wood. HEY BUD, WHAT'S UP WITH THAT??!! I had to do some pouting over that (talking does no good). To be fair he was trying to help. I forgave him. The apples got scorched, the turkey legs turned out okay. Me vs him on cooking: draw. Food's not that important to me. But he's a HUGE foodie, in more than one way.

The next morning I'm fresh and clean from the campground shower. I step over to the sink to brush my teeth. Another lady is there, ready to paste up. ( I just invented that) I beat her and started brushing. She's only a few seconds behind me but I DID START FIRST! You know what that means, don't you? I'm establishing the correct duration for brushing. I have a friend who told me we're supposed to sing the Happy Birthday song twice while we brush and that's long enough. I wasn't singing. I was wondering how long she would continue to brush if I never stopped. My arm got tired and I quit. But I still won!! She was nice. And relieved. She was a gracious dental hygienic loser.

I'm editing to add: I forgot one competition! The people in the next tent were snoring worse than my little dog! They win that one!

I think it's important to run the race to win. Or stay home. These are little unimportant things that I'm talking about here but life is big. Run hard! And don't quit 'till the race is run. On your mark, get set, WIN!

How could I possibly forget the competition between camp sites. Some have flashing lights, hanging lamps, solar power lamps, decks, signs, flowers. Wow. They're all winners.
