Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Two National Days Of Burgers --- Can You Say "Yowza!"?
Posted 09-18-2017 at 07:50 PM by case44
That calendar of strange holidays can be your best friend sometimes. It's true if what you crave comes in the form of its own national day.
What became the case for the subject at hand is just that. Friday was National Double Cheeseburger Day. Sounds good to me.
It was followed three days later by National Cheeseburger Day. And what did this writer do on both of those days? He took full advantage. ![OK](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/oglvvd.gif)
Hey, what's not to love about America's favorite sandwich, invented in none other than Texas? I took my tookus to two places: Norma's Cafe on Friday and Whataburger today. Which brings us to another event happening this coming Saturday..................which, unfortunately, I cannot attend. This event also involves hamburgers. It's the Uncle Fletch Burger Festival in Athens, Texas. You remember Fletcher Davis, who put together the very first hamburger in Athens about 130 years ago. And, so, every year at this time, the citizens there have been putting on a festival in his honor so that burger lovers from all locales can gather. I've been able to attend the last two festivals, but because of my newly-acquired Brokerage position and the schedule I've chosen, I won't be able to be at the Athens square to sample the different burgers cooking in the different kiosks.
Burger lovers everywhere, nonetheless, have had plenty of reason to rejoice in the days just passed, even if many of them cannot make it to East Texas.

Come on now. You all like hamburgers.....
There's one out there with your name on it.Posted 09-20-2017 at 03:29 AM by case44 -
You are correct, sir.
Had 3 in 3 days on a recent road trip. Two were from the most boring chain on Earth since it was convenient on the way to/from the destination, one was very interesting (Caprock Cafe in the Hub City).Posted 09-21-2017 at 04:23 AM by shoe01 -
^^^ Well, you were smart to go to Caprock. Great stuff. Wish I were there right now, in fact.
