Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

At Least, I Can Still Go To Starbucks For Their Coffee

Posted 06-22-2017 at 07:07 PM by case44

For years, I have loved Starbucks coffees. There's never a month that goes by that I don't stop and grab me a café latte. Oh, they have other items, but that one gets my juices pumped every time.

And when I take off for my next road trip, Starbucks will be among the stops on the way. Coffee is the only reason I go there. For a while this last year, I actually went without. I had been protesting the ridiculous thoughts of Starbucks former CEO Howard Schultz. Many of you, I'm sure, have heard of him. He'd actually been a successful businessman and had built Starbucks into a nationally-recognized brand. I still remember Dallas' first Starbucks, over on Knox Street just west of Central Expressway, back in the 1990s. When I drove by it, I just had a gut feeling that that entity was going to grow. Has it ever!

But Schultz was persuaded by the Starbucks group to step down as CEO a few months ago. Why? Backlash. Backlash over his opinions about illegal aliens, letting them run free, and even employing them at his stores. Schultz has turned into a left-wing idiot in recent days, and his resistance to our country's ongoing restoration has me turned against him. It was such a sad regression following the heels of leading the charge to a very successful coffee chain that got started with Schultz taking a trip to Italy to see all those streetside coffee bars. I may not like the guy now, but I still like his coffee. A lot.

Shows you what dirty politics can do to an individual. While I don't see Starbucks locations closing at a rapid pace, Schultz's stepping down from the company's highest position has prevented further damage.
