Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Here's An Idea For O'Reilly: One America News
Posted 05-02-2017 at 04:23 PM by case44
There's still a place for Bill O'Reilly on television. So he won't be on Fox News Channel anymore. Fine. He's made some mistakes and taken some serious missteps, all the while experiencing success with what, until recently, had been cable television's number one program. Okay, then. Let's forgive and forget all that's happened and let's move on. Let him have his space. Now, hopefully, if he's apologized and had asked for forgiveness, then he'll get his marbles together and get back on track, learning something from his mistakes and making sure that he doesn't do the things he'd been accused of again.
That said, there's still a place for Bill O'Reilly on television. Probably not right away, but in the not-too-distant future. You see, there's a fledgling news network with an opportunity for growth. Oh, it could use a few more news anchors (preferably those with considerable on-air experience, as much of the existing staff is astonishingly young), but during the week, it only has two talk shows at this writing. And if he makes a deal with the network, then it would be number three.
I'm talking about One America News. Yes, that new news channel that is only on a miniscule number of TV sets and cable systems around the country now, but has some potential for growth. You'll say to me, "Case, O'Reilly's in too-deep of doo doo and will never win viewers or sponsors again. All these allegations...."
Yes, he's done wrong, but he hopes to get things settled and get them all behind him. Viewers have remained with him through all of his controversies, and believe me, there have been some moments, but you can't blame them if there is cause for pause. Here's my question: As good as the idea is of having Bill O'Reilly on their network, does One America News want to gamble and take a chance on someone like him who has had success and great ratings, despite the baggage? I can't answer that one. Only time will tell. I used to enjoy seeing him on Inside Edition. I used to enjoy watching him on WFAA-TV (Channel 8) in Dallas as a field reporter for News 8 in the late-1970s. He has been successful. He'd be great on the One America News network.
I think it'd be a terrific idea. Once the dust settles, and Bill has gone the straight and narrow path, it would be the right time.
