Our daughter broke down at around 35 when we lost our son to a brain tumor at age 30,a happy man with the Denver Police Dept.
As for help, unless you are wealthy you are up against a stone wall, all you hear is she is of age and has her rights,we did not nor would not assume her liability, when she was finally admitted to Meridian Health Care, she was stabilized for several years.
To make long story short, her downfall came when Medicare C came, they discharged her to outpatient in apartment which she was not capable of handling.Medicare C took her off Medicaid, from there all down hill.
Her meds were expensive and she was unwilling to cooperate.
When they go off meds it takes several months to stabilize. The hospital gave up after several episodes.
It is very sad for us parents but you are right. Because they are adults, there is nothing we can do. My heart goes out to you.
