Why Ask A Question If You Don't Want An Honest Answer?
I mentioned something yesterday in a thread that I think is worth stating again.
I said that I don't understand people that tell us their business on a public discussion board, ask for our input & opinions, but then get mad at the responses. That just makes no sense to me.
Personally, I enjoy many of the forums here. However, whatever areas of my personal life that I know I'm extra-sensitive about, I don't discuss here.
I figure if you don't want people giving you advice on how to better raise your kids who are giving you trouble, just don't bring the subject up on a forum nor ask for help there.
If you don't want people telling you that some activity, decision, or relationship in your life is not appropriate, then just don't ask us how we feel about it.
I have come to the conclusion that some individuals who ask questions on public discussion boards really don't want genuine advice. They just want to state their personal situation and have others tell them "It's okay. You're okay."
Sometimes we can and will say that. But there are also times when we have to (respectfully) inform you that you did something wrong or tell you that you need to stop going down a certain path.
If you know that you're too sensitive to be told the truth even if we tell you kindly, then why tell us your business and why ask what we think?
*Remember: We can't give our opinions about what you don't tell us about.
Therefore, if you don't want people (online or in the real world) to be honest with you about some particular situation in your life, why involve us in the first place?
Now, isn't that easy?

It's a great forum, but you're right about some people sharing more than they should, especially if they're sensitive. Some only come here just to test others and see what kind of reaction they get.
